Looking Back: Ashoka Philippines

The past 2 years have flown by so quickly.  We thought it would be good to share with you a quick look back at Ashoka’s work and the community we have started to build in the Philippines.


Through its partnership with the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG), Ashoka began to lay the field for social entrepreneurship & innovation.  Its early programs became a seedbed for many young social entrepreneurs who are leading the field today.


FEBRUARY: Ashoka Philippines’ official presence begins. 

MARCH: Signed Partnership with key launch partner Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines to set up the Ashoka Philippines program, establish the Making More Health initiative, and identify leading Filipino social entrepreneurs. 

JUNE: Ashoka PH grows through its partnership with social enterprise incubator xChange and the co.lab coworking community.

APRIL: 4th Global Innovators Series - Korean Ashoka Fellow Yuhyun Park shares her work on nurturing responsible digital citizenship for young children and fighting information pollution in the digital age.

MAY: World Economic Forum OCEAN Event in Cebu.  Ashoka Philippines leads a design-thinking workshop for social innovation together with social entrepreneurs Girlie Lorenzo (Kythe) and JP Maunes (GVSP).


JUNE: 5th Global Innovators Series.  Brazilian Ashoka Fellow Gregory John Smith comes to Manila together with his Young Warriors youth group.  Co-sponsored by Ayala Foundation, Synergeia, Office of Mayor Rex Gatchalian, and Starbucks.
