The past 2 years have flown by so quickly. We thought it would be good to share with you a quick look back at Ashoka’s work and the community we have started to build in the Philippines.
2007-2008: EARLY BEGINNINGS
Through its partnership with the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG), Ashoka began to lay the field for social entrepreneurship & innovation. Its early programs became a seedbed for many young social entrepreneurs who are leading the field today.
2013: THE LAUNCH
FEBRUARY: Ashoka Philippines’ official presence begins.
MARCH: Signed Partnership with key launch partner Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines to set up the Ashoka Philippines program, establish the Making More Health initiative, and identify leading Filipino social entrepreneurs.
JUNE: Ashoka PH grows through its partnership with social enterprise incubator xChange and the co.lab coworking community.

JULY: Start of our monthly Venture Training Workshops that aim to build the social innovation community and spread ideas of systemic change across various fields of work
SEPTEMBER: 1st Global Innovators Series! German Ashoka Fellow Andreas Heinecke, founder of the global social enterprise Dialogue in the Dark. Co-hosted by Teach for the Philippines.
OCTOBER: The Philippines' 1st Ashoka Fellow Panel Selection held at the Ateneo School of Government
NOVEMBER: Celebration of Making More Health Week with Boehringer Ingelheim. BI employees learn about systemic change and engage with social entrepreneur Girlie Lorenzo's Kythe Foundation.
2nd Global Innovators Series @ the Yuchengco Museum - International Ashoka Fellow Lynna Chandra shares her insights from building Indonesia’s first home-based palliative care system for underprivileged children.
DECEMBER: Ashoka PH Network Grows in the Visayas. Hires Regional Venture Representative based in Bacolod.

2014: MOVING FORWARD
FEBRUARY: 3rd Global Innovators Series – Following the Yolanda disaster, US Ashoka Fellow Elizabeth Hausler, founder of Build Change shares her expertise in disaster-resilient housing and homeowner-driven reconstruction. In partnership with Ateneo School of Government and Smarter Good.
APRIL: 4th Global Innovators Series - Korean Ashoka Fellow Yuhyun Park shares her work on nurturing responsible digital citizenship for young children and fighting information pollution in the digital age.
Announcement of the first Filipino Ashoka Fellow. Maria Fatima “Girlie” Lorenzo is transforming Philippine public hospitals by creating a national system for psychosocial support for indigent patients, their families, and caregivers.
MAY: World Economic Forum OCEAN Event in Cebu. Ashoka Philippines leads a design-thinking workshop for social innovation together with social entrepreneurs Girlie Lorenzo (Kythe) and JP Maunes (GVSP).
JUNE: 5th Global Innovators Series. Brazilian Ashoka Fellow Gregory John Smith comes to Manila together with his Young Warriors youth group. Co-sponsored by Ayala Foundation, Synergeia, Office of Mayor Rex Gatchalian, and Starbucks.
JULY: Dialogue in the Dark comes to the Philippines. Ashoka Fellow Andreas Heinecke pilots his innovative Dialogue in the Dark workshops at the Asian Institute of Management.
AUGUST: 2nd Ashoka Fellow Selection Panel held at the Asian Institute of Management.
